Wedding Rings with Carved Designs
Forging is a technique of decorating the surface of a ring with patterns and letters using a tool called a tagane.
The most common types of engraving are traditional Japanese engraving and Western engraving (incisione incisione), which originated in Florence, Italy. The image shows Western-style carving in action.
Fusion of carving pattern and forging process
Among ith's forged rings are two wedding bands that use the engraving technique: one with a botanical laurel motif, the other with a glittering pattern over the entire surface.
The powerful rings are made by hammering and tightening the metal, and the delicate and gorgeous handiwork of the craftsman is in the rings.
Foglia
This wedding band is based on the motif of a laurel tree, which has the meaning of a "family tree. Just as the leaves of a laurel tree grow in the sun, we hope that the couple will grow together as a family.
The surface of the engraving pattern, which uses a Japanese engraving technique with strong and weak lines as if written with a brush, has a mat texture called "hairline" to make the lines stand out. The ring is luxuriously crafted using two techniques: machine technology to create the base of the ring by forging and cutting, and craftsmen's handcrafting technique to engrave the patterns one by one on the surface.
Once the engraving pattern is placed on the surface of the ring, it cannot be redone, so the work is done with a sense of urgency. The engraving is not a single line that can be done by a machine like laser engraving, but is done by hand, so the craftsman's feelings are put into each line and each pattern, giving the design a sense of handcraftsmanship and warmth.
The milgrain process that goes along the edge of both sides is inserted as a decoration, and the uniform grains in a straight line give the ring a crisp look.
Reticolo
This wedding band uses a Western engraving technique and derives its name from the Italian word for 'lattice'.
The surface of the ring sparkles with a regular lattice pattern. The pattern is engraved using a special tool called a tagane, which has fine grooves on the tip, and the work requires a great deal of patience, as the engraving is done repeatedly on the surface of the ring using the power of the hand.
In the case of this ring called "Reticolo," after carving the entire width of the ring, a machine called "Dia-Cut" is used to cut both sides of the ring in a single step. The mirror finish on both sides creates contrast and gives the wedding band an elegant, clean look.
Well-maintained diamond-cutting machines enable straight and precise cutting work to the nearest 0.1 mm, which cannot be done by hand.
Reticolo is a collection that is produced by using both machine processing and hand work for each process.

Forging, Cutting, and Engraving Techniques
None of the techniques used in the forging collection can be mastered without daily practice.
Forging is the process of learning to freely shape metal into rings while interacting with the metal. Cutting is the process of learning to recognize the peculiarities of the lathe machine and the selection of the diamond turning tool for sharpening. None of the techniques can be mastered immediately once you get the hang of it, but can be acquired through daily, steady accumulation of skills.
Our forging collection, which is filled with the technical skills of our craftsmen, is made with the warmth of human hands, and we work very hard to make it a special item, a wedding ring.
