the world of ith and the ambience of the atelier,
drawn to the stories embedded in each ring
the couple who visited us.
to take time to reflect on their own feelings,
and as they enjoyed the time spent choosing rings, what emerged was
an unwavering desire for a "forever" piece, with no compromises.
It was a joyous miracle.
Wrapped in laughter and warm emotion,
their hopes intertwined,
the story of a special wedding ring begins here.
A decision not to compromise, precisely because it's a lifelong piece
the couple were seeking a ring in preparation for their marriage.
During the consultation, their preferences were sought,
for a two-metal combination colour,
they appeared to be drawn to it.
However, because it required the craftsman's meticulous adjustments,
the two-metal colour typically takes longer to produce than usual.
They were worried that it might not be ready in time for their wedding.
Delivery deadline or design?
Because it's a wedding ring to be worn for life, rather than narrowing the design to fit a deadline, they should prioritise a genuinely “uncompromising design” that they can wholeheartedly approve.
With that in mind, as the concierge supporting the couple's ring-making, we conveyed this.
The couple nodded in agreement,
“Because it's a lifelong piece, let's choose something we truly love from the heart.”
and they made the decision to honour their own feelings.
In natural light, they found the “ring of destiny”
When the ring was brought to their seat,
they asked, “Which ring has the harp-like meaning?”
We introduced "Arpeggio".
To allow a thorough view of the colour,
we guided them to the natural light by the atelier window.
In natural daylight, the way they lovingly examined the ring's expression was very impressive.
“Maybe this is it!” cried the woman with sparkling eyes,
and the man gently teased, “Too quick!”
Thereafter, they checked the balance when worn together,
and, from time to time, weaving in stories of the artisan's handiwork,
along with their many smiles, they continued with the fittings.
Yet, no matter which one they wore, in the end,
the shape, how the finger appeared, the colour and the meaning,
they simply couldn't compete with "Alpageo".
and the couple found themselves returning to it.
For the two of them, "Alpageo" was truly a meeting of fate.
共に歴史を刻み、指輪を育てていく
With the design decided, the next step is a discussion about arrangements.
ith treasures the idea of "nurturing the ring,"
and we spoke about this approach.
Small marks accumulated in daily life are the history the couple shared as they walked their path together.
Initially, a lustrous mirror finish,
and gradually develop a matte texture unique to them,
which is one of the joys of wedding rings.
The man also liked matte finishes that felt comfortable on the skin, but,
inspired by the idea of "nurturing the ring,"
they were deeply impressed, and chose the mirror finish to enjoy the ageing process.
Because ith has its own workshop,
they can add additional arrangements at milestone years, for example,
and we call that "Simple & Bild".
“On anniversaries and other milestones, you can also add diamonds.”
and we suggested this to them.
The woman changed the front-facing diamond from three stones to one,
deliberately altering from three stones to one,
leaving the enjoyment of nurturing it for a lifetime.
As it will be worn for many years to come,
it will gradually settle on their hands,
while cherishing the patina of ageing,
please continue to shape it into a wedding ring that is uniquely theirs.
A Miraculous Match, Found Separately
At first, the couple
“Even if the appearances differ, as long as the meanings behind them connect,”
they said.
However, after thoroughly exploring each other's preferences,
they both arrived at exactly the same "Alpageo".
Even more remarkably, they both chose the same gold accent, the same polished finish, and the very same customisations.
Without ever trying to match each other, they found themselves choosing identical rings.
When I asked,
"How do you feel now that you've ended up with matching rings?"
they looked at one another and, with the biggest smiles, answered,
"We're so happy!"
Seeing the moment they realised they had found the rings they had been searching for was just as special for me as it was for them.
The Long-Awaited Day
After our very first meeting at the Ginza atelier, the couple also visited our Kichijoji atelier to continue exploring.
When it came time to collect their rings, they chose to visit our Yokohama Motomachi atelier, making it the third ith atelier they had experienced.
"This interior is beautiful too!" they said, enjoying the unique atmosphere of each atelier along the way.
At last, it was time to meet their long-awaited “Arpeggio.”
After slipping the rings onto their fingers and taking photos for a while, they smiled and said,
"They already feel so natural on our hands. They're so cute!"
Watching them happily capture photos throughout the atelier—from the consultation room to the entrance and even outside—filled me with happiness as well.
By the time they received their rings, they had truly fallen in love with ith.
But receiving the rings is never the end of the journey.
In many ways, it is only the beginning.
Afterwards, they sent us a heartfelt message:
"We were able to create something that will always be one of our greatest treasures."
Those words, filled with love for ith, became a treasure for me too.
Meeting the two of them and sharing this journey together is something I will always cherish.
Named after the musical term meaning "to play the harp," “Arpeggio” expresses individual notes coming together to create a beautiful harmony.
May your own unique melodies continue to intertwine, filling your life together with colour, joy, and harmony.
And may your ith rings—and our ateliers—always remain by your side.
We look forward to welcoming you back whenever you feel like visiting. Until we meet again.
