There was a memorable phrase in the director's blog about naming rings.
Reading this director's blog, I was reminded of a pair whom I had the honour to work with previously.
Engraving born from ideas brimming with love
Inside the rings, the names written in hiragana and kanji, and a ribbon illustration are engraved.
Here is the engraving born from ideas brimming with love.
The Ribbon that binds the two
Inside the ring, they said,
"We would like a ribbon illustration and the names."
they told us.
"Like tying a ribbon,
would they each draw one?"
We proposed this, and it was memorable how they cheerfully redrew it several times until a ribbon they were happy with could be drawn.
"A ribbon that holds precious thoughts together."
Watching them draw, it felt as though the meaning was fulfilled exactly.
The moment when family love became one
Initially, the name section was to be written by the two of them themselves, but the following message arrived from them.
"We have decided to have their parents write the names."
Looking at the image sent with the message, it is evident that the parents had mulled over several patterns, and my heart was full.
Careful attention to both unseen and visible parts
"The width should be around 3.5mm; thicker would be nice too."
"The metal could be platinum, but pink gold would be nice as well…"
"We'd like to use a birthstone; what setting should we choose?"
On the exterior of the ring, there were many points of focus because it's the visible part.
From the front or from the palm side, it became a distinctive design that stands apart from others.
Watching the two of them brim with ideas, I remember feeling incredibly excited.
Prioritising embedding their feelings in something that will last a lifetime
They shaped it slowly and thoughtfully without rushing.
To the woman gazing at the ring with a beaming smile, the man said, "She looks so happy!"
The tranquil scene at delivery filled me with happiness as well.
May the two of them continue to walk happily for many years to come, safeguarded by their family's love.
