An Engagement Ring for a Sunflower-Loving Bride

A man walked through the doors of the atelier with a wish

—to create a ring inspired by his partner’s favourite flower, the sunflower,

in celebration of her August birthday.

His journey with ith began when he came across "Girasole", a design named after the Italian word for sunflower. From that moment, he knew what he wanted to give her.

There were two things he wished to fulfill:
First, a ring that reflected her love for sunflowers.
Second, a ring she could wear comfortably every day.

"I want to create an original engagement ring that brings both dreams to life,"

he shared.

His partner works in fashion and often wears rings as part of her daily style.

Imagining her wearing something that suits her fashion sense, he chose "Fuga"

—a graceful design with a soft curve and delicate milgrain detailing.

Together, we began brainstorming how to infuse sunflower essence into the ring.

“Should we use yellow gold to reflect the sunflower’s colour?”
“Maybe yellow diamonds or peridot to mimic the look of the petals?”

After exploring many ideas, we arrived at one beautiful concept:
Each diamond would represent a sunflower in bloom.

In the language of flowers, a bouquet of 40 sunflowers means
“I pledge my eternal love to you.”
A perfect sentiment for a proposal.

He had planned a heartfelt surprise:
A bouquet of 19 sunflowers and a handwritten letter for the proposal,
followed later by a custom engagement ring set with 21 diamonds.

Together, the bouquet and the ring would complete the 40 sunflowers,
expressing his vow of everlasting love in both words and design.

“I’ll do my best to make sure that message comes across,”

he said cheerfully on the day of delivery.

We reviewed the meaning of the flower together before he left.

A little while later, I finally had the pleasure of meeting her in person for a ring resizing.
Just as he described—she was stylish, bright, and full of warmth.

She shared a photo of the 19-sunflower bouquet he gave her.

With a smile like a sunflower in full bloom, she said,
“I learned the meaning behind 40 sunflowers too!”

I wish their days to be filled with blooming happiness—
now and always.
