"Piuma carving"
One of the carving patterns crafted by the artisans at ith,
as the V-shaped carvings run in sequence,
a soft, feather-like pattern is created.
The wings that cradle gently
have long been regarded as protective talismans,
evoking "flight" and "ascension,"
and is regarded as a lucky motif.
The movement of light, which changes with the viewing angle, is another charm.
In the Fukuoka Tenjin Atelier as well,
this design has captivated many with its texture.
Such a "Piuma carving".
The base ring and the colour of its metal,
depending on where the carving is applied, it can take on a markedly different character.
Here is one example of this.
Colour and ring shape. The combinations are endless.
Yellow gold × "Kenwan"
With the vibrant hue of yellow gold as a base,
the mountain-shaped cross-section called "Kenwan"
when the carving is added to suit the ring,
it cuts through the wind and moves straight ahead
and takes on a sharp, arrow-feather-like impression.
Platinum × "S-curve"
In platinum colour,
it takes on a crisp, refined look.
The distinctive carving pattern too,
by making it a subtle one-point feature, its prominence is restrained
it can be incorporated discreetly.
Pink gold × "Waisted" profile
Like a ribbon,
it pairs perfectly with a waisted silhouette.
It also carries a charming, two-leaf-like sweetness.
By finishing the colour in pink gold,
wearability on the hand is greatly enhanced as well.
"What will our rings look like?"
Waiting for the finished piece while imagining the result is
one of the charms of bespoke commissions, but
within the many options,
that it may be difficult to picture.
and some may feel uneasy.
