The first meeting with the couple was in the spring of last year.
They came across ith because they were interested in custom-made jewellery.
"We want to make sure we add personal touches since it's a ring we'll wear for life!" they said.
Through in-depth conversations, their engagement and wedding rings became filled with special details.
Let me introduce their rings to you.
A One-of-a-Kind Engagement Ring
Let's start with the engagement ring consultation.
As they tried on sample rings, we gathered their preferences, and their ideal ring gradually became clearer:
・A simple solitaire diamond
・A rounded band for a comfortable fit
・The gleam of yellow gold
The ring that the lady loved was "Albero," originally designed with engraving patterns. However, it was adjusted according to her request to create a smooth, polished finish without any raised areas.
Because the band was simplified, we added a touch of decoration by customizing the prongs that hold the diamond into a rounded eight-prong setting.
There was also attention to detail on the side profile.
While engagement rings often have a delicate, thin design, the lady emphasized that she wanted the ring to be sturdy enough for daily wear. Additionally, by carefully considering the detail of "reducing the height of the diamond to minimize snagging," we crafted the ring to ensure it blends seamlessly with the hand, resulting in a design that feels natural and comfortable.
The diamond chosen for the center was a 0.214-carat diamond, symbolizing the couple's wedding date—February 14th.
They were deeply moved that they could select a diamond with a number that had personal meaning to them, making the ring even more special and unique.
Matching Wedding Rings
Next, we moved on to the wedding ring consultation.
"We want matching designs!"
"We also want something that pairs perfectly with the engagement ring for stacking."
To bring these ideas to life, we had detailed consultations to refine every aspect.
The design they loved was "Croce," featuring two rings that overlapped in a way that created a delicate, pinched silhouette.
It was a design the lady had been drawn to even before coming to the atelier.
For the gentleman, we chose platinum, and for the lady, yellow gold, so that the rings would complement their individual hands.
The "Croce" is originally a slim, flat-shaped ring with a subtle thickness. However, since it will be worn for a long time, we added width and thickness to better balance the ring with the engagement ring.
The lady wanted her ring to have a rounder shape, just like her engagement ring, so we subtly adjusted the form to give it a smoother curve.
When stacked with the engagement ring, the curves and natural design of the wedding band perfectly complemented each other.
