Handcrafted textures with originality
The ith collection rings include about 40 types of wedding rings with particular attention to surface finish.
One of these textures, Neve, which means "ice" in Italian, is a finishing process that makes the surface of the ring resemble an ice skating rink and the skate marks on the ice resemble the couple's footprints.
The texture, which has been around since the beginning of the ith, is created by drawing lines over and over again on the surface of the ring, and the longer it takes to process, the deeper the texture becomes.
Pesante
The name "Pesante" is a musical term meaning "profoundly" because of its width and thickness and massive appearance.
Forged with a wide, generous surface and textured by hand by our craftsmen, Pesante has an imposing weight. While the average thickness of a wedding band is said to be 2.5mm to 3.0mm these days, platinum rings are 4.0mm, yellow gold rings are 3.5mm, and the thickness of a wedding band is usually 1.6mm, but Pesante is 2.2mm for platinum rings and 2.0mm for yellow gold rings. The platinum ring is 2.2mm thick and the yellow gold ring is 2.0mm thick, giving the wearer a sense of volume when worn.
Because the ring has more volume than usual, to make it more comfortable to wear, a process called "inner rounding" has been added to round the border between the sides and the inside of the ring. This inner roundness allows the wearer to wear the ring without a sense of oppression.
The surface of the yellow gold is decorated with a diamond in the form of a star. The matt yellow gold blends gently with the skin, and the high luster of the diamond tightens the ring as a whole.
The joy of forging by selecting the color of the base metal
When we decided to create the Forging Collection, we wanted to expand the enjoyment of choosing wedding rings at ith, so we decided to increase the variety of base metal materials we use.
In addition to the existing four colors of platinum, yellow gold, pink gold, and white gold, two new colors, champagne gold and lime gold, have been added, making a total of six colors available.
The ring on the left is made of a material called champagne gold. It is a gold color that is closer to skin tone than pink gold and blends in with the skin when worn.
The ring on the right is lime gold, a yellowish gold that is aptly named lime because of its vivid, slightly greenish color. In contrast to champagne gold, it is a bright color that makes a statement on the finger.
The color of the base metal, as well as the design, is an important factor in the custom-made creation of a once-in-a-lifetime precious wedding band. We encourage you to try on different colors at our atelier to find the color that suits you best and that you like.
One craftsman is involved in the entire process until completion.
The traditional forging method, which begins with a single metal bar being formed into a ring, and the base of the ring is made by cutting with a lathe, and then hand-work is applied to the ring as the final finish, is a very time-consuming manufacturing method.
For rings made by the forging method, one craftsman is basically involved in the entire process from the first step until the ring is completed. Because he is involved in all processes, he faces the ring with a sense of responsibility.
In this age of mass production, both the creator and the wearer can feel enriched by valuing attachment to and a sense of responsibility for the ring rather than productivity. Such a form of craftsmanship can be found at ith.
